Geography

Our Geography focus for this half term is the coast. We will be exploring the big question 'What is it like to live by the coast?'. We will be exploring what coastlines are and how they are formed. We will then focus on the UK coastline thinking about what makes it special and the different uses the UK coastline has. We will then consider why people choose to live near the coast and the advantages and disadvantages of this before then focusing on the Jurassic coast and thinking about what can be done to protect our coastline.

PE

This half term, we will continue to go swimming to develop our swimming techniques and confidence in the water. In our Thursday PE sessions we will be doing athletics ahead of our Sports Day. We will develop our fundamentals of running, throwing and jumping. We will work on achieving and competing against our personal bests as well as developing our techniques.

DT

Our DT unit this half term is 'Electrical Systems'.  We will learn about the different components of an electrical system and learn how to create our own. Once we have learn about electrical systems, we will then design and create our own electrical posters.

Computing

Our computing focus is on 'Programming' to support us with this we will continue using the program 'Scratch'. This unit explores the links between events and actions, whilst consolidating prior learning relating to sequencing. We will begin by moving a sprite in four directions (up, down, left and right) before then exploring movement within the context of a maze, using design to choose an appropriately sized sprite.

Jigsaw

Our JIGSAW puzzle piece for Summer 2 is 'Changing Me'. We will learn about babies and how babies grow, considering what babies need to ensure they have their physical and emotional needs met. We will  then learn about inside and outside body changes that occur as we get older.

Music

Our musical spotlight is 'Opening Night'. We will sing and play along to a range of different songs before we then create and present a performance showing an understanding of the songs we are singing and where they fit into the world.
