Writing to Entertain
In our English lessons, we will be using the text 'Traction Man is Here' by Mini Grey as our writing stimulus. Within our lessons, we will explore the imagery of the text to help us understand the character of Traction Man. We will look at generating adjectives, before applying these to create expanded noun phrases. Once we have created our expanded noun phrases, we will create sentences, ensuring we have accurately used capital letters, full stops and fingers spaces. Finally, we will create our own description of Traction Man.
After creating our description, we will look at sequencing the story in order to retell the story in our own words. We will explore different sentence openers, conjunctions, verbs, adjectives and ensure our sentence structure is secure.
Writing to Inform
Our second text will be Man on the Moon: A day in the life of Bob by Simon Bartram. Within this unit, we will be writing to inform. We will still focus on composing our sentences accurately, however, we will be looking to present our information in a different style. We will explore types of vocabulary, sentence types and text structure before composing a set of instructions.
