Rocks, Fossils and Soil

In science this half term, we will be learning about rocks, fossils and soil. We will start by looking at different rocks and describing their appearance, texture and weight. We will then learn about the differences between sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks and classify rocks into these rock types. We will then explore the properties of rocks by conducting our own investigation.

When looking at soil we will learn about the importance of soil and its composition. After learning about soil, we will then move on to studying fossils. We will have the opportunity to look at some fossils in school and explore images of fossils to draw conclusions about which animal they came from.
