Dream, Believe, Love, Work, Achieve!

English

Writing to Inform:

Within this unit of work, we will be exploring how to create a non-chronological report about a fictional planet. We will explore the structure and layout of text, identify and learn about key features including expanded noun phrases, adverbials, tense and sentence construction.

Writing to persuade:

We will also be developing our persuasive skills to create a leaflet about a space hotel. The children will explore the features of persuasive writing, learn about and practise the techniques before creating and designing a leaflet.

Our focus author:

Our author this half term is Christopher Edge. Christopher Edge is an award-winning children’s author whose books have been translated into more than twenty languages. He grew up in Manchester, where he spent most of his childhood in the local library dreaming up stories, but now lives in Gloucestershire where he spends most of his time in the local library dreaming up stories.
