Writing to Entertain

We will use ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ to help us to write to entertain. We will explore the structure of the text, sentence composition and types, descriptive language and a range of co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions. The children will use these skills to create a descriptive setting description and an alternative ending to the story.

Writing to Inform

We will then be creating a non-chronological report, based around habitats, which links in with our science learning for this half term. We will learn about the structure of a text, sentence openers and using a range of sentence types. This also provides another opportunity for the children to embed and deepen their understanding of conjunctions.

Focus Authors

This half term, we will have two focus authors: Pip Bird and Nadia Shireen. We will be exploring a number of texts that are written by both authors including The Naughtiest Unicorn, Billy and the Beast and Grimwood.
