Writing to Entertain:

This half term, we will be using the text 'The Pea and the Princess' by Mini Grey as one of our key texts in English. The purpose of our writing will be to create our own twisted fairy tale. The children will have the opportunity to consolidate their learning from Year 2 within this sequence, with a focus on sentence types, expanded noun phrases, grammatical accuracy and sequencing.

Writing to Persuade:

We will also use the text 'The Secret of Black Rock' by Joe Todd-Stanton, with a focus on persuasive writing. The purpose of our writing will be to create a persuasive letter. The children will explore writing in the past tense and using apostrophes accurately for possession. We will also consolidate different sentence types and use these correctly.
