Writing to Entertain:

This term, our focus text will be 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' by C.S. Lewis. We will be learning how to retell a section of the story from a character's point of view. We will be working on the following skills:

  • Use of the first person;
  • Exploring and adapting language to show a character's voice;
  • Use of descriptive language;
  • Including dialogue;
  • Using paragraphs and conjunctions for cohesion;
  • Using commas for clarity;
  • Maintaining tense.

 

Our focus author will be C.S. Lewis. C. S. Lewis was a British writer and academic best known for creating The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and the rest of The Chronicles of Narnia. Born in 1898 in Belfast, he worked as a university lecturer and wrote many books for both children and adults. His stories are famous for their imaginative worlds, memorable characters, and themes of good versus evil.
