Do Everything in Love

Music

We want our pupils to love Music. We want them to have no limits to what their ambitions are and grow up wanting to be:

artists,

musicians,

composers,

producers,

choristers

and conductors

We want them to embody our core values and be creative.

We want to develop a keen ear for detail.

Our aims for Music.

We aim for our musicians to:

  • Generate ideas and using instruments and voices, taking inspiration from a range of artists
  • Composing skills
  • Play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression.
  • Knowledge of Pulse/beat, Rhythm, Pitch, Timbre, Texture, Structure, Tempo and Dynamics
  • Knowledge of musicians' work and techniques
  • Evaluating: critiquing their own work and that of others

Our philosophy of music education is based on the principle that it should be fun and engaging for all concerned, and that every child is a born musician. Music plays a role in every aspect of our lives, wherever and whoever we are. For this reason, we divide the academic year into six units, each corresponding with one of our six recurring Social Questions, combined with a unique Musical Spotlight.
