Length and Perimeter 

One of our mathematical focusses this half term is on length and perimeter. We will be learning how to measure in metres, centimetres and millimetres and will have practical opportunities to practice this. We will then learn about equivalent lengths (e.g. 1m 20cm = 120cm, 2cm = 20mm) before we move on to comparing, adding and subtracting lengths. Once we are secure on this, we will then be introduced to perimeter for the first time and learn how to measure and calculate the perimeter of shapes. 

Fractions

After learning length and perimeter, we will move on to learning about fractions. We will revisit what fractions are and understand what the denominators and numerators tell us in unit and non-unit fractions. We will then learn how to compare and order fractions and find equivalent fractions.
