This term we will be focussing on writing for pleasure. We will be transferring our reading into writing skills based on the book Letter from the Lighthouse by Emmaso be looking at Caroll. We will use the story to inspire a missing person’s report and description settings using personification. We will also be exploring the book Archie’s War and My Secret War Diary by Marcia Williams, we will use the style in which this book is written to inform our reports on Defford Airbase. Handwriting, spelling and grammar form part of our English lessons daily.

Children will come home with a reading for pleasure book and a banded reading book. In school, children will have whole class guided reading lessons 5 per week, where they will read with an adult. There will also be other opportunities for the children to read individually to an adult inside or outside of the classroom. Our class novel this half term will be The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips by Michael Monpurgo.
