Rocks and Soils

In Science, our focus will be rocks! As we progress with our learning, we will be able to compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties; describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rock and recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter. The children will have the opportunity to carry out a number of experiments within this unit of work and will learn how to structure an experiment. We will also explore how to write up our results.
