Earth Day
On Thursday 1st May, we celebrated Earth Day and No Pens Day. As part of our learning, we explored ocean pollution and the impact it was having on the marine life that lived there. We also created a piece of art work by reusing bubble wrap to print onto recycled card.
Warwick Castle
Wow, what an amazing day we had yesterday at Warwick Castle. The children were fascinated from the get go. As we walked into the castle grounds, we went into the Peacock Garden, where we saw a number of beautiful peacocks. One was very interested in the class and came over to say hello!
We then went into the Great Hall, where we saw a number of suits of armour and a range of weaponry. The children were very observant and noticed how things had changed over time. They also explored how the castle had a number of secret doors and found out how these were used by the servants. After this, Ben, our workshop guide told us all about William I and how he became King! The children loved reenacting the battle between Harold and William and using the different props. They also couldn't believe that it is rumoured that William I exploded in his coffin!
After our workshop, we had the opportunity to explore the castle grounds. We went up onto the ramparts and climbed Guy's Tower - I am sure the children will tell you there were a lot of steps and it was very high! I was so impressed with the resilience and the encouragement shown by all of the children. We then looked at the moat and the river, before ending our day in the Horrible Histories Maze.
Art
In Art, we have been learning about sculpture. The children have explored different techniques to shape and mould clay and have looked at using slip to join different pieces together.
Computing
In Computing, we have been learning how to create digital music using Chrome Music Labs. The children have explored rhythm, tempo, pitch and volume to create a piece of music of their own.
