Why is Easter special for Christians?
- Recognise and retell stories connected with the celebration of Easter
- Say why Easter is a special time for Christians
- Talk about ideas of new life in nature
- Recognise some symbols Christians use during Holy Week, e.g. palm leaves, cross, eggs, etc., and make connections with signs of new life in nature
- Talk about some ways Christians remember these stories at Easter.
Many Christians decorate crosses with flowers in church, to celebrate new life and Jesus coming back to life. We made our own flower crosses to help us remember this.
We heard the story of Easter from the Bible. We made "feelings crosses" to show all the different emotions in the story. Yellow = happy, Blue = sad, Pink = love, Green = calm, Red = Anger, Black = Afraid
We enjoyed learning about Palm Sunday in our story circle. We helped to create the story too!
We had a wonderful walk around the school grounds, looking for signs of Spring and made a huge collage in class to show what we had talked about!
