Curriculum Enrichment

Art:

In our art lessons, we are learning how to be architects. We have explored observational drawings and focused on proportions in order to draw an accurate representation of a house.

European Day of Languages:

On Thursday 25th September, we celebrated European Day of Languages as a school. Each class explored a different country and Year 5 focused on Greece. The children had the opportunity to explore the Greek language and alphabet, learning how to write their name. They also did some food tasting of traditional Greek foods.

Reading Buddies:

Every Monday, Year 5 link with our Reception children during our ERIC time. This is a lovely time of the day, where the older children share a story with the younger children.

History Trip to Defford

Year 5 have visited Defford to help develop their understanding of the impact of Defford during World War II. We had a talk from a lovely volunteer, Tony, who helped us to understand how important Defford was, the importance of radar and Defford's legacy. We were fascinated to see a range of artefacts from the war and wanted to find out more!

Music

We have been very lucky with our music this half term. Mr. Komor has treated us to a special workshop using the Boomwhackers and we have started to learn how to play Eye of the Tiger. We have also had an African Drumming workshop, as part of our Black History Month celebrations.

Table Tennis

A group of Year 5's have been given the opportunity to develop their table tennis skills at Bredon Village Hall. They have learnt how to hold the bat correctly, develop control and learn how to serve.

Design and Technology

In our DT lessons, the children have been exploring where our food comes from. They have explored a range of ingredients before looking at recipes and making amendments. Their learning culminated in the creation of a beautiful spaghetti bolognese.
