Wider Curriculum

History

We will be exploring the question 'How and when did we learn to fly?' We will begin by exploring how transport has changed over time before looking at how flight has developed. We will then consider why flight is something people aspire to. After this, we will learn about the achievements of the Wright brothers and Amelia Earhart before forming an opinion on who we think has made the greatest impact.

DT

Our DT focus is on Mechanisms. We will begin by creating a moving monster using levers and linkages before designing and creating our own fairground wheel. We will test and adapt the designs before creating the finished model.

Music

In music we will be exploring how instruments with different sounds can be used to communicate a story and emotions. With the music throughout the unit, we will try and connect our feelings and emotions and listen out for the soft and hard sounds and think about their impact.

JIGSAW

In our JIGSAW lessons, we will be thinking about 'Dreams and Goals'. We will explore how to create an achievable goal and set out to achieve this. We will think about our own strengths and how we can utilise these.

PE

In PE we will be doing Dance and Fitness. In our dance lessons, we will think about how we can move our bodies to create actions with different dynamics and expressions. We will flashback to our gymnastics learning to help us travel within our dances. In our fitness lessons, we will take part in a range of activities to improve our stamina, strength, co-ordination, balance, agility and speed.

Computing

In Computing, we will develop our understanding of programming through using robot algorithms. We will explore instructions in a sequence and use logical reasoning to predict outcomes of sequences. We will also investigate how the order of the instructions affects the outcome.
