The Day Louis Got Eaten
We are using the text 'The Day Louis Got Eaten' to support our writing.
We will begin by learning the text and orally rehearsing this. We will then sequence and write about the events in the story. Once we have learnt and sequenced the text, we will think about how we can add description into our writing using expanded noun phrases. To make our writing more interesting, we will look for synonyms that we could use to vary our verb choices and then apply these, along with conjunctions to construct different sentences.
For our final piece, we will write our own versions of 'The Day Louis Got Eaten', changing the characters and locations.
How to Catch Santa
This Christmas, we will be using the text 'How to Catch Santa' to support our writing with our end of unit piece being to write a set of instructions. We will begin by exploring the text and thinking about what questions we would like to ask Santa and creating a list of gifts we would give him. We will then create inventive ways we could catch Santa and sequence these into a logical order. To extend our writing, we will think about how we can use conjunctions to carefully explain each step.
We will then create our own set of instructions on how to catch Santa Claus, using sequencing adverbials.
Poetry
As part of Michael Rosen Day, Year 2 will be creating poetry inspired by the poem 'Woolly Saucepan' which will have a lovely cross-curricular link with our Science for this half-term.
