Telling the Time:
We have been learning to tell the time! We have used the clocks to help us understand where the minute hand and hour hand will be at different times of the day. We have explored o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to, as well as beginning to explore the time to the nearest 5 minutes.
Statistics:
Year 2 have been busy learning about statistics. In our maths lessons, we have been using a range of manipulatives to help us understand what different diagrams look like including tables, tally charts, block diagrams and pictograms.
Design and Technology - Structures:
In our DT lesson, we finished creating our structure. We needed to make a chair for our teddy, based on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We needed our structure to be strong, stable and stiff. We used a range of recycled materials to make our creations and we were very proud.
Computing:
In our Computing lessons, we have been using the programme Scratch Jr. We have been learning all about outcomes and how we can create an algorithm to produce an outcome and the outcome depends on what steps we have included.
Police Visit:
We have been learning how to stay safe in our community. We have a visit from the police, who told us all about their job, asked us questioned about how to stay safe and gave us the opportunity to try on uniform and go in the police car. We liked sounding the siren!
Cotswold Wildlife Park:
We had a fantastic day at the wildlife park seeing all of the different animals. The children consolidated their learning about lifecycles by talking to one of the keepers at the zoo. We found out all about the lifecycle of an emu, a wallaby and a gibbon. The children were fascinated by the noise that the gibbons were making and how they made the noise.
