Writing to Persuade

Our first sequence in English will be persuasive writing in the form of an advert and a letter. The children will be designing their own chocolate bar and will explore persuasive techniques in order to convince someone to buy their product. As well as persuasive devices such as hyperboles, we will continue to explore how to develop our vocabulary and sentence structure to ensure that our writing is clear to the reader.
Writing to Entertain

Our second sequence of work will come from the book 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry, with the focus of creating a setting description. The children will have the opportunity to explore vocabulary and text structures, before creating a setting description of the rainforest, using a wide range of descriptive language and techniques.
