Community and Enrichment - everyone flourishing

At the heart of our school is our vision to Do Everything in Love. We believe learning flourishes when it is shared, celebrated and connected to the wider world. Inspired by our guiding principles – DREAM, BELIEVE, LOVE, WORK, ACHIEVE – we encourage every child to grow in confidence, curiosity and compassion.

We love our learning by bringing it to life beyond the classroom. Our children enjoy a rich programme of visits, visitors and experiences that inspire and excite them. From local walks and museum trips to workshops with artists, authors and community leaders, we create memorable opportunities that deepen understanding and spark new interests.

We love our world by helping children explore different cultures, faiths and communities. Pupils visit a range of places of worship and welcome guests from diverse backgrounds into school, learning to appreciate both our differences and our shared humanity.

We love each other by building strong partnerships with families, local groups and organisations. Community involvement is a vital part of school life, and we value every opportunity to work together, support one another and celebrate achievements.

We love ourselves by encouraging children to try new things, discover talents and develop the confidence to step beyond their comfort zones.

Every year brings exciting events, projects and collaborations. The examples below give just a flavour of the many enriching experiences our children enjoy as part of our vibrant and caring school community.

Year 4 and 5 Cross Country January 2026

On Thursday, 46 Year 4 and Year 5 children embarked on a trip to Bredon School to take part in the  re-arranged Cross Country event against other schools in our cluster. When we arrived, we walked the new course to see where we would be running; this involved a lot of mud for Year 5 in particular as they had to run through a pony field! Every single child shone and showed great determination to complete the course, and there were some excellent displays of sportsmanship, both with children from our school and children from other schools. The adults were incredibly proud of every single one of them. After all the races were completed, it was time for the prize-giving, which was very fruitful for Bredon Hancock’s.

The team results were decided by adding the results of the first four finishers together. The Year 4 boys team came second overall with a score of 50 . The Year 4 girls team came first overall with a score of 32. The Year 5 boys team came first overall with a score of 36. The Year 5 girls team came first overall with a score of 16.

Bedtime Stories January 2026

We enjoyed an enchanting evening of bedtime stories as 84 children returned to school for a truly magical experience. Snuggled in their cosy pyjamas with blankets and teddies, the children listened carefully to a wonderful selection of stories, followed by refreshments that made the evening even more special. Thank you for supporting our event, Mrs. Skyrme is looking forward to buying the children lots of new books for the library.

"Thanks to everyone who made this possible and such a lovely experience for the kids. It's really appreciated." Reception Parent

"Thank you to you and your colleagues for giving up some of your evening to read so many lovely stories." Reception Parent

Young Voices January 2026

Young Voices was an absolutely incredible experience and one we will remember for a long time. The atmosphere was electric and exciting, filled with awe, wonder and the pure joy of seeing our children singing and dancing alongside thousands of others. The children were an absolute delight to be with and were true ambassadors for our school, representing us with enthusiasm, confidence and impeccable behaviour. A huge thank you to Mrs. Eeles for organising the event, and to Miss Adams, Mrs. Harding, Mrs. Matley and Mrs. Bulman for so generously giving up their time to support this amazing opportunity. We have also received some truly delightful feedback from both the children and parents who attended, which reflects just how special the experience was for everyone involved.

“This was the best day ever!” Year 4 boys.

“I can’t wait for next year!” Year 4 girls.

Christingle - January 2026

The children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a wonderful time working with members of St Giles church to make Christingles for the Christingle service. The children were very knowledgeable about the different parts of the Christingle and were keen to share this. The orange represents the world. The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ. The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God's creations. The lit candle represents Jesus's light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness. The children then had the opportunity to take part in the Christingle service at St Giles Church, where they shared some beautiful prayers they had written, searched for the Christingle pieces, sang songs and lit their Christingles.

A huge thank you to all of the families that were able to join in church for our service.

Bredon Living Advent Calendar - December 2024

A message from Sarah - the organiser of the St Giles event:

Thank you all very very much for all of your participation in our Bredon Living Advent Calendar last December. Your contribution to this community event was absolutely fantastic! The posters that you designed were so thoughtful and imaginative. Your window on the 11th was joyous and engaging. And your decorations for the Church on the 24th were magnificent.

You have made a really special contribution to this community project, and contributed to raising over £100. The money will be divided between Crisis, which is a charity for the homeless, and the village church. That means you have contributed to having a positive impact; both on the lives of homeless people, and on the lives of the people in our village.

Well done, and thank you for your excellent citizenship.

Children In Need, November 2024

For Children in Need this year, the children were set a challenge. The children needed to use natural resources to create Pudsey's face and work collaboratively to create their final piece. The children were incredibly proud of their efforts.

Choir Singing at St Giles Church, Mothering Sunday Service 10th March 2024

A selection of the choir delivered a heartfelt performance for the local community during the Mothering Sunday Service held at St. Giles Church. Engaging in the service, we also had the privilege of gifting our mothers with charming little posies.

Christingle Making, 12th January 2024

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 helped the Open the Book team make 90 Christingles for the local community and St Giles Church service.

Macmillan War Time Tea Party, 6th October 2023

Year 5 held this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning. As Year 5’s topic was the Second World War, the children dressed up in their evacuation costumes and sang some wartime classics during the event. Everyone enjoyed their coffee and cake. Well done Year 5, you were all super shiny stars and we are so proud of you.

Harvest Festival, 5th October 2023

It is my privilege to work with wonderful staff, children and families . The children have been very industrious in school and have produced excellent work in a range of subjects. The Year 5 children lead the service, in St Giles Church, with clear articulation and pride.

Families generously donated and Ken explained that these donations are absolutely vital to give everyone a balanced and nutritious three day supply of food. The Year 5 pupils packed up the trays with Ken from the food bank and he was sincerely thankful for everyone's goodwill and support.
