Wider Curriculum

Geography

We will be exploring the question 'What makes our natural world wonderful?' We will begin by looking at the continents and oceans of the world before focusing on the UK. We will explore the four countries and surrounding seas. We will then explore key landmarks around the UK and different physical features.

Art

Our Art unit will be based around Craft and Design. We will be exploring different crafting techniques to create our own abstract maps. We will look at how to cut different shapes with care and then design a print with simple lines and shapes.

DT

Our DT focus is on Cooking and Nutrition which will link closely to our work in Science. We will explore the different food groups which will then help inform the ingredients we want to include to create our own healthy wrap. We will design, create and evaluate our wrap using a number of criteria. 

Music

In each of our Music lessons we will be introduced to a different song. When listening and playing along to different songs, we will explore pulse, rhythm and pitch. 

JIGSAW 

In our JIGSAW lessons, we will be thinking about 'Being Me in My World'. We will think about our hopes and fears for the world along with our rights and responsibilities. We will reflect on these to help us create our own class learning charter. 

PE

This term, we will be developing the fundamental skills of balancing, running, changing direction, jumping, hopping and skipping. We will also be working with a range of different equipment. In our team building lessons, we will be exploring how to work as a team, using our communication skills. We will then explore how to use these to solve a range of problems and scenarios.

Computing

In Computing, we will develop their understanding of what information technology (IT) is and will begin to identify examples. We will discuss where we have seen IT in school and beyond, in settings such as shops, hospitals, and libraries. We will then investigate how IT improves our world and the importance of using IT responsibly.
