Place Value

We will start the year by learning about Place Value.

We will be learning how to:

count objects to 100 by making 10s

recognise tens and ones

partition and flexibly partition numbers to 100

write numbers to 100 in words

represent 10s and 1s on the number line

compare objects and numbers

count in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s

Addition and Subtraction

Following our place value unit, we will move on to addition and subtraction. We will revisit bonds to 10 and 20, before looking at bonds to 100. We will add and subtract 1s, add by making 10, add three 1-digit numbers before adding and subtracting across a 10. Children will also learn how to add and subtract from a two-digit number. Finally, we will compare number sentences and explore missing number problems.
