Maths

Place value

At the beginning of each year, we start with our place value topic. We will start by revisiting numbers to 100 before moving on to explore numbers to 1000. Within our place value unit, we will learn how to: represent and partition numbers to 1000, create number lines, compare and order numbers to 1000 and find 1, 10 and 100 more or less than a given number.

Addition and subtraction

After completing our place value unit, we will move on to learning addition and subtraction. We will start by consolidating our knowledge of number bonds, which will then be able to use throughout the unit. Our learning of addition and subtraction will allow us to work our way up to being able to add and subtract 2 and 3-digit numbers using the formal written method.
