Letters from a Lighthouse

This term we will be focussing on writing for pleasure. We will be transferring our reading into writing skills based on the book Letter from the Lighthouse by Emma Caroll. We will use the story to inspire a missing person’s report and description settings using personification, write postcards back home to mum from Olive’s point of view. Spelling and grammar will also be taught separately throughout the week.

Children will come home with a reading for pleasure book and a banded reading book. In school, children will

have guided reading each day, where they will read with an adult or their peers. There will also be other opportunities for the children to read individually to an adult inside or outside of the classroom. Our class novel this half term will be Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian.
