There's a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom

How to Help a Hedgehog and Protect a Polar Bear

This term, we are learning how to write to persuade. Firstly, we will be writing persuasive letters based on the texts 'How to Help a Hedgehog and Protect a Polar Bear' by Jess French and 'There's a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom by James Sellick. We will be deconstructing a variety of texts to identify the features of a persuasive letter, before learning about modal verbs, fronted adverbials, emotive language and rhetorical questions. We will also revisit how to structure a formal letter before writing our own.

Flood

Extreme Earth

We will also be using the texts 'Flood' by Alvaro F. Villa and 'The Big Picture: Extreme Earth' by Jon Richards to inform our persuasive speech. We will continue to explore presentation and structure, as well as fronted adverbials, paragraph construction and the use of emotive language. We will also learn how to present our speeches to an audience.
