The Deep Dark Wood by Algy Craig Hall and Ali Pye

Our first focus text is The Deep Dark Wood by Algy Craig Hall and Ali Pye. We will be learning how to structure our sentences - verbally and written - before learning how to use adjectives effectively to describe. We will also learn how to sequence a story, in order to retell a story from different points of view. Finally, we will explore a linked text - The Gruffalo - to write a set of instructions.

The Day Louis Got Eaten by John Fardell

To further support our learning, we will be using the text 'The Day Louis Got Eaten'. We will explore how to make our sentences more interesting by using varied openers, conjunctions and selecting appropriate vocabulary. We will further embed our understanding of capital letters and full stops. Our end outcome is to retell the story, with a twist!
