We are continuing to use the book Lost in the toy museum by David Lucas

This term we will continuing to build the children’s writing skills – we will carry on looking at writing to inform.  This will involve us looking at the features of recounts, looking at diary entries and then we will move on to looking at how we write letters.

The children will be bringing home a reading for pleasure book and a book linked to the phonics we have been teaching that week as well as a book to share with an adult.  Please can I ask you to hear your child read at least 3 times a week, this will help to embed the phonics and tricky words which we are teaching them within school.  It is also important to reread the books as this also helps to consolidate learnt sounds and to improve fluency.

In school the children will be doing phonics daily.  Books will be changed once a week on a Friday.  Reading certificates will continue:

They get 1 point per day if they read and then get a certificate every 25 points which are added up at the end of every half term.  The children will then at the beginning of the following half term receive their certificate in assembly.

At the end of the day we will read a book daily from the wide range we have available in class and school.
