Addition and Subtraction

In maths, we will be continuing to secure of knowledge of addition and subtraction. We will begin by adding and subtracting 1s across a ten and 10s across a hundred and learning different mental methods that can support us to do this. When we have secured this knowledge, we will then move on to learning the formal written method of addition and subtraction. We will learn how to add two numbers together with and without exchanging. 

Multiplication and Division

Once we are secure in addition and subtraction, we will move on to exploring multiplication and division. We will start by revisiting and consolidating our knowledge of multiples of 2, 5 and 10. We will then look at division and how we can use both sharing and grouping to help us to divide. In Year 3, we will learn how to multiple and divide by 3, 4 and 8 and also learn our 3, 4 and 8 times tables.
