Welcome to Class 3!
This Year, all home work and spellings will be uploaded onto Google Classrooms. Please sign in using the invite which has been sent to your (the pupils) email account.
I have also uploaded the Homework grid for this half term above in case you don't have access yet.
I hope you are all safe and well! We have started putting together some home learning website pages for you. These sites can give you some great online lessons during your time away from school and some fantastic resources for the children. I am sure, as time goes on, this bank of links will grow so please keep coming back and checking out our homework section!
We are also busy developing Google Classroom for you. It will be ready in a few weeks and teachers will place content on there for your children to use at home. We have recorded a small demonstration video on how to access Google Classroom and this can be found in the Video Resource Centre by clicking the link below.
As it is half term next week, there are no spellings. Have a break and enjoy your time off!
Happy New Year!
Firstly, I would like to say thank you for all the lovely presents, cards and kind words I was given at the end of term! I hope you and all your families had a lovely Christmas and a good break!
There will be no new spellings this week. I will be testing the children on 10 spellings selected from the ones they have had over the past half term. This will be on Thursday as usual.
I will not be setting any new homework or spellings now until after the half term holiday. Keep a look out in the first week back for a new homework grid.
Homework Autumn Term 2019
There is a slight change this year to how we are doing homework. There will be a number of challenges set on your child’s topic web. You can also find these challenges on the homework section of the website.
They work on a points system, complete as much or as little as you would like, the children who have collected enough points at the end of a half term will receive a certificate.
We would expect each child to aim for at least a bronze certificate, however we are not expecting any of the children to complete all of the challenges.
Every Friday morning there will be an opportunity for the children to share the homework they have done that week. This just makes it easier for me to keep track of who has completed which challenges.
Bronze Certificate – 50 points
Silver Certificate – 70 points
Gold Certificate – 100 points
I know this is new and may seem a little daunting at first but feedback came from the parents that homework could do with a refresh. So we have developed challenges that children can choose from and hopefully some activities that would be fun to do as a family. If you have any questions my door is always open.
Compulsory homework will comprise of a spellings, times tables and individual reading.
Spellings will be handed out on a Friday and they will be tested on Thursday of the next week. Each half term there will also be a recap test on a selection of all the words they have learnt over the half term.
Spellings and Homework 5.7.19
There are no more spellings this term. Call back in September for more (remember to look in Class 4 next time!)
The homework I set last week was for 2 weeks so will be due in on Thursday 11th July, although we may start looking at any in earlier before then.
Thank you for a fantastic year, and have a wonderful summer holiday!
